Keys to the Kingdom
matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
There is something interesting to this verse. I was reading through Bill Johnson’s book “When Heaven invades earth.” In Bill suggests a powerful idea, that these keys that have been given to us and to the church at large give us access to all the resources of the king, all his resources in heaven. Interesting! But also they come with a responsibilty. With these keys we also control and open up who sees the power of the gospel. This is truly what the keys unlock. When we declare the gospel we have used the keys to allow others to reach and met the king, but when we don’t we have chosen to close and lock the door.
Bill mentioned briefly it’s even worse to bury this treasure and not allow it to increase. My mind is prompted to consider this in light of the parable of the ten talents. Think if those talents/coins were the keys to the kingdom. The servant who buried the keys restricted access to the growth of the kingdom of God. But the positive side, is when we allow access to the kingdom, there is blessing instore for us. As with the servants who increased, God gave them increase as well.
Beautiful! How responsible are you with the keys God placed in your hands? Have you buried them, or have you used this gift to increase the kingdom of God?
